2014 Boston Marathon updates

  • Former Bruins defenseman and Boston fan favorite Andrew Ference is volunteering at the marathon finish line this year. "It's great, I miss the city obviously," Ference said. "It's like home to me and my family. Coming down, we got the Bruins, Sox and the marathon in a couple days span so it's been great." The current Edmonton Oilers captain was also at the TD Garden Sunday to see the Bruins' 4-1 win over Detroit. "It was better for the Bruins obviously," he said. "They got a little more emotional so that's good for them." As for today's atmosphere, Ference said "it's the best." "The whole vibe, the city's been great the past few days," he said. "Everyone's buzzing around, the weather's nice. It's perfect. This is what it's all about, everybody's coming together to try to turn the page and get on with things this year."
