A couple of current Patriots will be involved with the draft this weekend. Tennessee native Dont'a Hightower will announce a second-round pick, and center David Andrews will announce a third-round pick
Kyler Murray is the first pick in the 2019 NFL Draft. He's an Arizona Cardinal.
Jim McBride's take: An electric athlete with tremendous arm strength and accuracy. His skill set is a perfect fit for a lot of NFL offenses (especially the one Kliff Kingsbury runs in Arizona). Oh yeah, you may have heard he's a wee bit short for the position. It doesn't matter.
Quick bio: A five-star recruit from Allen, Texas, Murray first chose Texas A&M, where his dad played quarterback, but transferred to Oklahoma after one season of limited playing time. After sitting out a year, he backed up Baker Mayfield during a Heisman Trophy-winning season in 2017. After Mayfield went No. 1 in the NFL draft, Murray gave the Sooners an encore by winning the trophy himself in 2018. He threw for 4,361 yards, 42 touchdowns and seven interceptions and rushed for 1,001 yards and 12 touchdowns.
