Cora indicated the Sox would add a starter for one turn through the rotation next week. That, with the day off on Monday, would give them add extra rest. Could be Wright throwing to Swihart.

Back-to-back 6-3s to Bogaerts to open the inning. The positioning of Bogaerts this year has been consistently excellent, and he's cleaned up his mechanics quite a bit, especially on throws.
23 pitches, 18 strikes for Rodriguez through 2 innings. Inefficiency has prevented him from recording an out in the 7th this year. Not an issue so far today.
Morales with a full-count chopper that nearly turns into Toronto's first hit but drifts foul. He's the first Blue Jays hitter to see a 3-ball count vs Rodriguez today.
There has never been a more relaxed caught stealing than Vazquez throwing to second to get Morales on the K/CS inning-ending DP. Rodriguez has still faced the minimum through 5 innings.
Granderson is the only Blue Jays LHH in the lineup. He's 0-for-2 with 2 strikeouts. Rodriguez has struck out 22 of 44 lefties he's faced this year. He is now a scheduled day off for most LHHs.
Rodriguez fell behind Teoscar Hernandez, 2-0 (just the 2nd batter of 19 faced against him Rodriguez didn't throw a first-pitch strike), then hung a changeup for a two-run homer. Game tied, 2-2.
Most hitters never admit to trying to hit homers. They say all the usual stuff about trying to hit line drives, etc. Martinez just flat out says it, he's goes up looking to do damage. He's figured it out.
For the second straight day, the Red Sox' efforts to give Craig Kimbrel the 9th inning off seem destined to fail. Pillar and Solarte with lasers to open the 9th vs Brian Johnson, and here comes Kimbrel.
The Red Sox win, 6-4. They're 39-17. Only 2 other teams since 2003 have started a season with at least 39 wins through 56 games: The 2017 Astros (40-16) and 2016 Cubs (40-16).
